Job summary

Job Title: Finance Manager - Energy Management Specialist

Location: Salford (with hybrid working)

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum + 10% Bonus + Benefits

About the Company

We are working in partnership with a leading energy management specialist with headquarters in Salford and international operations. They support a wide portfolio of clients across housing, healthcare, retail, business parks, and industrial estates, offering tailored energy procurement, billing, and compliance services.

The Role

As Finance Manager, you will take full ownership of operational finance functions, leading a team of 8-12 across AP, AR, credit control, and billing. This role is ideal for someone looking to step away from a purely accounting‑focused role and into a broader, business‑focused leadership position. You will work closely with the senior leadership team, providing strategic insight, financial planning, and operational oversight to support the next phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day‑to‑day finance operations: AP, AR, credit control, billing, payroll, and general ledger
  • Prepare and present monthly management accounts, board packs, and forecasts
  • Lead budgeting and reforecasting processes; track and report on performance vs. budget
  • Manage company cash flow and treasury functions
  • Ensure compliance with statutory bodies (HMRC, Companies House, FCA)
  • Provide commercial insight to support strategic decisions and growth initiatives
  • Develop financial models and business cases for investment or expansion
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing finance team
Required Experience & Skills
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Experience in a Finance Manager or senior operational finance role (not accountancy practice)
  • Energy sector preferred however any sector or industry is considered providing its operational function so retail, manufacturing, telecoms, construction etc
  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP, tax regulations, and compliance
  • Proven leadership skills managing cross‑functional finance teams
  • Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
  • Familiarity with finance systems such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks
  • Energy sector experience preferred but not essential (manufacturing, retail, telecoms, or similar sectors welcome)
  • Strong communication, commercial acumen, and strategic thinking
