Job summary

Elevate Supported Living is seeking a detail-focused Finance Officer to oversee day-to-day bookkeeping, planning and reporting across multiple sites in the UK. The role delivers accurate accounts, forecasts and budgets while maintaining regulatory compliance.

You will work with directors, budget-holders and external accountants, ensuring efficient financial operations and value-for-money across services. AAT or equivalent required; 3+ years in related roles.

Qualifications

  • AAT qualification or equivalent; solid experience in financial management.
  • 3+ years in financial management, ideally in health, social care, or local authority-facing settings.
  • Proficient with Xero and Excel and related MS Office tools.
  • Strong knowledge of PAYE, HMRC compliance, and financial reporting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts and records using Xero and Excel.
  • Design and maintain P&L reports, cash flow forecasts and budget trackers.
  • Provide quarterly forecasts, reconciliations, controls and audit trails.
  • Support budget holders with regular reviews and value-for-money insights.
  • Process payroll receipts and expense sheets for payroll in a timely manner.
  • Maintain petty cash across sites and upload receipts to the accountant.
  • Liaise with external accountants on management reports and year-end accounts.
  • Ensure PAYE compliance and HMRC requirements are met.
  • Support development of financial systems to improve efficiency.
  • Provide professional financial support to directors and contribute to planning.
  • Communicate with local authorities and external stakeholders as appropriate.

The Role

As Finance Officer, you will provide professional financial support across the organisation, working closely with directors, accountants, and budget holders to ensure Elevate's financial operations are accurate, efficient, and compliant.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Managing day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts, and financial records using Xero and Microsoft Excel
  • Designing and maintaining P&L reports, cash flow forecasts, and budget trackers
  • Delivering quarterly forecasts, reconciliations, financial controls, and full audit trails
  • Supporting budget holders with regular management account reviews, identifying opportunities for more effective use of resources
  • Collating and processing support worker expense sheets and receipts for payroll in a timely manner
  • Managing petty cash across sites, including uploading receipts to the accountant in an organised and timely manner
  • Handling invoice factoring accounts and maintaining familiarity with factoring processes
  • Liaising with external accountants on management reports and year-end accounts
  • Processing PAYE and maintaining compliance with HMRC requirements and relevant financial legislation
  • Supporting the development and implementation of financial systems that improve organisational efficiency
  • Providing professional financial support to directors and contributing to planning and reporting processes
  • Maintaining effective communication with local authorities and external stakeholders as appropriate

About You

You will:

  • Hold an AAT qualification or demonstrate equivalent experience in a similar finance role
  • Have a minimum of 3 years' experience in financial management, ideally within a health, social care, or local authority-facing environment
  • Be confident working with Xero, Microsoft Excel (including complex spreadsheets), and wider Microsoft Office tools
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of bookkeeping, PAYE, HMRC compliance, and financial reporting standards
  • Have experience preparing and monitoring budgets, forecasts, and reconciliations with an eye for value for money
  • Be highly organised, accurate, and able to manage competing priorities
  • Show accountability and professionalism in your practice
  • Be a collaborative team member who communicates effectively across all levels of the organisation
