Job summary

The Stroke Association is seeking a Finance Manager to lead the finance team, reporting to the Financial Controller and coordinating with the Northampton office. The role focuses on mentoring, improving financial controls, and delivering timely management information for internal stakeholders.

Based in the UK with home-based duties nationwide, occasional travel to the Northampton office and other locations is required. A recognised accounting qualification and strong Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Recognised accounting qualification (e.g. AAT Level 4 or above)
  • Experience supervising team members and providing feedback
  • Proficiency in Excel (LOOKUP, SUMIFS, PivotTables)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable and Treasury teams

Please let us know if this will present any challenges when you email your application.### The RoleWe are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Finance Manager who will report to the Financial Controller.Core to this role is the supervision, support and general mentoring of the Accounts Receivable Administrator, Accounts Payable Administrator, Group Network Finance Administrator and the Banking and Treasury Administrators, to ensure that each has the appropriate tools, skills knowledge to complete their duties.The Finance Manager will contribute to building a strong relationship with key external and internal stakeholders.Further the Finance Manager will be responsible for providing accurate and incisive reports to the management teams covering all four areas of responsibility.Key responsibilities will include:To provide support, training and mentoring for all five reportsTo assist in the maintenance of the operation cashflow forecastTo manage finance enquiry email boxTo provide additional ad hoc reports and support, specifically including VAT and Gift aid returnsProvide leave cover for all five team membersSupport the Financial Controller in monitoring, reviewing and adapting financial controls and processes to ensure the remain relevant and helps support the charity to meet its aims.### About YouYou will have:Hold a recognised accountancy qualification e.g. AAT level 4 or above (or equivalent) or qualified by experienceDemonstrable experience of supervising team members, including setting expectations, monitoring performance and providing constructive feedbackDemonstrable experience of motivating, coaching and mentoring team members to achieve objectives and contribute to a positive, supportive working environment.Demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including using lookup functions, SUMIFS and pivot tables to analyse financial data and produce accurate reports.Ideally but not necessarily have experience in using PSF Financials, CRM and on-line banking toolsExperience of Accounts Receivable, Payable and Treasury functions would be beneficial.This role requires some travel to our Northampton office as well as other locations for meetings and training.
