Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate and insightful monthly management accounts, KPIs, financial reports and forecasts.
  • Monitor budgets, cashflow, forecasting, and overall financial performance.
  • Prepare year-end statutory accounts and supporting files.
  • Oversee internal payroll operations ensuring compliance with relevant PAYE and pensions.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

We are a well established, highly respected and growing accountancy practice seeking a talented and motivated Finance Manager to take ownership of our internal finance function. This is a key role at the heart of our business, responsible for delivering robust financial management and driving insight‑led decision making across the firm. Working closely with the partner team, you will play a central part in shaping the financial strategy and supporting operational excellence.

This position is ideal for a proactive and ambitious individual who thrives on responsibility, enjoys improving systems and processes, and is eager to make a measurable impact within a successful and growing professional practice.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Produce accurate and insightful monthly management accounts, KPIs, financial reports and forecasts
  • Monitor budgets, cashflow, forecasting and overall financial performance
  • Prepare year‑end statutory accounts and supporting files
  • Oversee internal payroll operations (70‑80 employees) ensuring compliance with relevant PAYE and pensions and statutory requirements
  • Maintain and reconcile internal accounting records using Xero, including VAT submissions
  • Proactive contribution to the annual budget and long‑term strategic plan
  • Manage the ICAEW Annual Returns and annual insurance declarations
  • Provide regular financial reporting and analysis to internal teams and external providers
  • Develop dashboards and analysis to support business insights
  • Liaise with partners and department heads on financial matters
  • Lead financial project management for key business initiatives
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a similar management accounting or internal finance role
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with experience in data analytics
  • Proficient in Xero, and payroll systems (IRIS, Sage line 50, Paycircle and HSBCnet knowledge an advantage)
  • Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable working independently
  • Advanced MS Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, data transformation, modelling)
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting practices
  • Experience managing or mentoring team members
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
