JOB PURPOSE

As the Finance Manager at Burberry, you’ll be overseeing the completion of finance and accounting tasks within the RTR Centre of Excellence, responsible for delivering high quality financial information, compliance and controls. By connecting with stakeholders across the business, you’ll understand commercial priorities and challenges faced to develop solutions, creating new or improving processes to achieve more efficient ways of working.

Alongside this, you’ll manage and lead a brilliant team of Accountants and Senior Accountants in all aspects of the month end process, ensuring resource and skills are allocated effectively while encouraging professional development and a continuous improvement approach.

This Finance Manager role is offered on a full time, permanent basis and will be based in our Queen Street, Leeds office for a minimum of 3 days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Managing and leading a high performing team of Accountants and Senior Accountants, ensuring resource levels, capacity and skills are aligned with operational delivery of accounting processes and reporting requirements
  • Ensuring compliance with Burberry policies and SLAs, including operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, anticipating and responding to needs to inform and develop mutually agreeable solutions
  • Understanding the wider business priorities and ways of working, using this to drive simplification, standardisation and automation to deliver more effective, efficient and robust ways of working
  • Effectively managing change by identifying opportunities aligned with Finance team and wider business objectives, facilitating implementation, monitoring and improving results
  • Encouraging issue identification, implementing corrective and preventive action plans to resolve and mitigate problems
  • Deputising for the Senior Manager to lead discussions on a broader department level as needed
Personal Profile
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with at least 1 year PQE
  • Experience in a similar supervisory/management role in a large, corporate business, ideally within a Shared Service Centre environment with an international remit
  • Demonstrable people management experience, across hiring, training and retaining finance talent. Can provide examples of effective leadership and getting the best out of people, including during demanding periods
  • Technical, hands on accounting knowledge applying IFRS or local GAAP
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to influence and build effective relationships to drive collaboration
  • Track record and appetite for delivering continuous improvement
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken) essential
