Job summary

Wolverley CE Secondary School is seeking an experienced finance professional to lead budgeting, planning and reporting to support long‑term financial sustainability. You will work with the School Business Manager and SLT to develop multi‑year budgets and provide strategic financial advice to leaders and governors.

The role requires advanced Excel and financial systems skills, strong analytical abilities and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • A Level 5 qualification (or equivalent) in finance, or substantial relevant experience.
  • Experience of budget setting, financial management and reporting.
  • Advanced Excel and financial systems skills.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and build positive working relationships.
  • A commitment to the values and ethos of a Church of England school.
  • School finance experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and reporting in partnership with the School Business Manager and Senior Leadership Team to support the school’s long‑term financial sustainability.
  • Develop multi‑year budgets, conduct scenario planning, and provide financial advice to leaders and governors.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and support the school’s governance processes.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations and support income‑generating activities.
  • Manage finance staff and deputise for the Business Director on financial matters when required.

  • Working pattern: Full time: 37 hours per week, TTO + 10 days
  • Contract type: Permanent
  • Full time equivalent salary: £34,434 - £36,363
  • Pay scale: NJC SO1, points 23-25
