Job summary

Isca Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Finance Manager in Exeter on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will lead a small finance team, drive accurate reporting, compliance and financial control across the organisation.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will oversee month-end close, budgeting, cashflow, VAT and statutory reporting, ensuring robust financial processes and business insight. Hybrid working, with 1-2 days per week at Exeter head office, is available.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or equivalent accountancy qualification (preferred).
• Recent experience including month-end and management accounting.
• Producing management information and cost centre reporting.
• Statutory accounts preparation and external audit processes.
• Experience with VAT returns and wider financial compliance.

Isca Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Finance Manager to join a successful and purpose-led organisation based in Exeter on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract.This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant seeking a varied and hands-on management role where you will lead a small finance team and play a key part in delivering accurate financial reporting, compliance and financial control across the organisation.Reporting to the Finance Director, you will oversee a small finance team and be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the finance function, whilst supporting the wider organisation with timely and accurate financial information.Finance Manager – The Role:Key responsibilities will include:Leading, mentoring and developing a small finance team.Managing the month-end close process.Preparing and reviewing monthly management accounts.Producing monthly cost centre reporting and variance analysis.Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations.Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow reporting activities.Ensuring compliance with VAT and other HMRC requirements.Coordinating the annual statutory audit process.Supporting the preparation of statutory accounts.Completion and submission of ONS surveys and other regulatory reporting requirements.Maintaining and improving finance processes, controls and reporting.Working closely with budget holders and non-finance stakeholders, providing financial insight and guidance.Supporting ad hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function.Finance Manager – The RewardsSalary of £50,000 – £55,000pa depending on experience and qualifications.37.5 hours per week Mon – FriHybrid working with 1-2 days per week at the Exeter Head Office.Opportunity to join a collaborative and supportive organisation.Varied and interesting role with genuine responsibility and autonomy.12-month fixed-term contract with immediate impact and visibility across the business.Finance Manager – The PersonThis role will suit an experienced finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and taking ownership of a broad range of management accounting, compliance and team leadership responsibilities.We are keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:ACA, ACCA or equivalent accountancy qualification (preferred)Recent experience including month-end and management accounting, preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, producing management information and cost centre reporting.Knowledge of statutory accounts preparation and external audit processes.Experience managing VAT returns and wider financial compliance requirements.Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.Strong communication skills with the confidence to build relationships across the organisation.A proactive, organised and hands-on approach.Payroll and pension administration experience would be advantageous but is not essential.Experience within the charity sector would also be welcomed, although this is not a prerequisite.This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional seeking a rewarding position within a well-established organisation where you can make a meaningful contribution from day one.We reserve the right to close this role early, so please don’t delay in submitting your CV, we will be in touch promptly to discuss the role and employer.
