Transaction Recruitment Ltd. partners with a growing logistics business in Coventry to appoint a Finance Manager. You will own the entire finance function, from monthly numbers to cash planning and commercial insight, with hybrid working and direct access to Directors.

The role requires a strong accounting background (ACA/ACCA/CIMA preferred), hands-on management accounts, cash flow, budgeting and forecasting experience, and experience with stock/VAT; Sage 50 experience is desirable.

Responsabilidades

About the Business

A fantastic opportunity to join a growing logistics business based in Coventry as a Finance Manager, paying £45,000 – £55,000 per annum with hybrid working. Reporting directly to the Directors, you'll have real ownership of the whole finance function, from the monthly numbers through to cash planning and commercial insight. As the business continues to expand, this is a visible, influential role with genuine scope to shape how finance supports the next stage of growth.

Main Duties:

As a Finance Manager, your main duties include:

• Running the finance function day to day, acting as the go-to person for all things finance across the business
• Producing monthly management accounts covering the P&L, balance sheet and cash position, ensuring the Directors receive accurate figures on time
• Preparing regular performance reports and analysis for the Directors, turning the numbers into clear, practical insight that informs decisions
• Building and maintaining budgets, forecasts and longer-range projections, tracking results against plan and recommending action where performance drifts
• Owning cash and working capital management, preparing cash forecasts and flagging early when additional funding may be needed
• Keeping a close eye on debtor and creditor balances, making sure collections and supplier payments are well managed
• Overseeing purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control, alongside bank, nominal ledger and balance sheet reconciliations
• Posting month-end journals including accruals and prepayments, making sure every transaction is correctly recorded and reconciled
• Overseeing payroll and the related reporting, plus VAT returns and other HMRC submissions
• Maintaining the fixed asset register and supporting the year-end and statutory accounts process
• Liaising with external accountants, auditors, tax advisers and the bank, and supporting the Directors on banking and funding matters
• Analysing gross margins, product profitability, pricing and overheads across different customers and sales channels, highlighting where costs can be cut and profit improved
• Partnering with the buying, sales and warehouse teams on stock valuation, stock movements and holding levels, making sure stock reporting is reliable and risks are understood
• Strengthening financial controls, procedures and governance, ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards and tax requirements
• Developing the accounting and reporting systems, introducing automation and linking finance data with the operational and stock systems
• Supervising and checking the output of junior finance colleagues, and helping colleagues across the business understand their numbers

Location / Office / Culture

The role is hybrid, based in Coventry, working from modern offices alongside a friendly, entrepreneurial team with a strong commercial focus. You'll work closely with the Directors and colleagues across operations, in a growing business where your ideas on improving processes and systems will be genuinely welcomed.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• A background as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, senior Management Accountant or similar is essential
• Hands-on experience producing management accounts and running day-to-day accounting is essential
• Hands-on cash flow management, budgeting and forecasting experience is essential
• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified ideally, though part-qualified or QBE candidates with solid practical experience will be considered
• Advanced Excel skills and a sound grasp of UK accounting, VAT, payroll and control processes
• Experience using Sage 50 is desirable but not essential
• Experience within a stock-holding, distribution, retail or wholesale business is beneficial but not essential
• Confidence working directly with business owners and Directors, with a proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach
