- Produce monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and clear variance analysis.
- Support the Head of Finance in preparing materials for the Audit & Risk Committee, including drafting reports, preparing packs and taking minutes.
- Prepare annual financial statements under FRS 102 (including initial drafting of technical memos and accounting papers to support key judgements).
- Support the Head of Finance in managing the year-end audit process, including liaising with external auditors.
- Budgeting & forecasting
- Assist in preparing the annual budget and periodic reforecasts, ensuring assumptions are well supported and clearly documented.
- Provide timely analysis and insights to support business decision-making.
- Finance operations
- Own day-to-day transactional finance including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, staff expense management and banking.
- Manage supplier and customer relationships, ensuring invoices are processed and payments made accurately and on time.
- Maintain reconciliations across all balance sheet accounts.
- Assist in cash flow management, monitoring cash balances.
- Systems & process improvement
- Take an active role in finance systems implementation projects, ensuring smooth migration of data and embedding of new processes.
- Support the re-mapping of prior year figures into a new chart of accounts.
- Identify and implement ongoing improvements to processes, controls and reporting.

Skills / experience required
- Newly or nearly qualified accountant (ACA preferred).
- Solid technical accounting knowledge (FRS 102) with confidence in preparing accounting papers and drafting financial statements.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple workstreams and deadlines.
- Proactive and solutions-focused, with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to enhance processes and controls.
- Adaptable and resilient, comfortable operating in a scaling start-up environment.
- Clear and professional communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information effectively to non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and demonstrable aptitude with financial systems, with an interest in leveraging technology to improve efficiency and reporting.
