Job description

Our client based in Cambridge is seeking a hands‑on Finance Manager to take ownership of all day‑to‑day finance operations and provide essential support to the Finance Director.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain strong financial controls across expenses, purchase orders and ledgers
• Support budgeting, forecasting and commercial income tracking
• Assist with financial modelling
• Prepare accounts to trial balance, including month‑end journals and reconciliations
• Oversee payroll
• Manage banking, weekly payment runs, VAT returns
• Support audits, statutory reporting, and work with external accountants
• Assist with project accounting, timesheet systems and ad‑hoc financial reporting

Candidate Profile:

We're looking for a finance professional with experience in an SME, start‑up or scale‑up.

ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or part‑qualified or AAT qualified, with strong technical accounting skills and a proactive, communicative, detail‑oriented approach. Xero and Excel expertise required.
