Job summary

Membership Bespoke is recruiting an Interim Finance Manager to lead the day-to-day finance function during a period of change. This hands-on role includes managing monthly management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow and compliance.

You will drive improvements in finance systems (likely Sage/Xero), enhance management information, provide financial insight to budget holders and senior stakeholders, and support year-end processes with external accountants.

Qualifications

• Experience overseeing transactional finance processes.
• Experience reviewing/improving finance systems and processes.
• Experience implementing or significantly improving a finance system such as Sage, Xero or similar.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive and improvement-focused approach.
• Experience in a membership organisation, charity or not-for-profit environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day finance function and ensure accurate and timely financial information.

• Lead the implementation of a new finance system and improve management information.

This is a hands-on role with responsibility for the day-to-day finance function, alongside an opportunity to improve systems, processes and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day finance function and ensure accurate and timely financial information
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial analysis
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
• Monitor financial performance and provide insight to support organisational decision‑making
• Manage banking, reconciliations, purchase and sales ledger, invoicing and payment runs
• Oversee payroll and pension administration
• Monitor aged debtors and work with budget holders to support timely collection
• Manage VAT compliance and statutory financial requirements
• Coordinate year‑end processes and work with external accountants and auditors
• Oversee Companies House filings and corporate compliance requirements
• Lead the review and improvement of finance processes, controls and procedures
• Lead the implementation of a new finance system, likely Sage, Xero or similar
• Improve the quality and accessibility of management information
• Provide financial advice and support to budget holders and senior stakeholders
• Manage and coordinate financial activity across the organisation and its affiliated organisations

We are looking for an experienced finance professional with:

• Experience overseeing transactional finance processes
• Experience reviewing and improving finance systems and processes
• Experience implementing or significantly improving a finance system such as Sage, Xero or similar
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• A proactive and improvement‑focused approach
• Experience within a membership organisation, professional association, charity, not‑for‑profit or similar environment
