Job description

The purpose of this role is to proactively and effectively own all strategic communications regarding Haleon business performance, whether to the Haleon Executive Team (HET) or the Board of Directors. The Finance Strategy Director is an integral part of the Group FP&A team, supporting the translation of financial performance into insightful communications for the HET, while ensuring that the CEO & CFO are adequately equipped to engage with Haleon’s Board of Directors to make the best available choices as aligned with our Win as One strategy. You will play a critical role in driving Haleon towards our ambitions of reaching 1 billion more consumers by 2030 while generating industry‑leading shareholder returns, while always delivering on our commitment to being a responsible business.

Key measures of success include:

  • Analysing and understand business performance in support of developing clear communications (both written and presentation form) on business performance insights, strategic choices and implications.
  • Partner with business leaders in crafting clear narratives and high‑quality papers and presentations for the Board, and where required, external stakeholders in partnership with Investor Relations.
  • Work with the BU / Functions and Categories to clearly articulate the strategic narrative and choices made (e.g. key strategic drivers, trends and competitive insights) as it relates to the financial planning processes, in particular Annual Business Plan (ABP) and Long‑Range Plan (LRP).
  • Bring finance capability, governance and financial acumen to the continual evolution of the Haleon value‑creation framework to build organisation capability in short & long‑term decision making.
  • Work across internal and external groups to bring peer & competitor benchmarks and intelligence to Haleon, in order to determine focus areas and to inform strategic choices for Haleon in context of prevailing investor expectations.
  • As necessary, lead and co‑lead strategic initiatives that support Haleon’s ambition and execution of strategic drivers, focusing within the Finance function.
  • Work as a key additional finance member to support the Strategy function to deliver and govern a range of high‑value‑at‑stake strategic projects, e.g. new growth opportunity evaluations, M&A, geographic expansion, penetration. This includes extensive support throughout the long‑range planning process to ensure the strategic choices and options are considered properly.

Basic Qualifications
  • Prior experience in M&A, strategy/consulting, financial planning with a CPG context is highly advantageous.
  • Understanding of the global CPG market, how external factors influence equity‑related investment strategies will be highly valuable.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with an ability to synthesize complex data, pulling out key insights & translating into concise communications.
  • Ability to distil down complex information and strategic concepts into simple and compelling narratives to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Expertise in complex financial modelling, and capability to run various “what if” scenario's.
  • Ability to operate autonomously and proactively, managing multiple projects at a single time in a fast‑paced, results‑oriented environment.
  • Proven self‑starter with ability to balance conflicting priorities and work on multiple activities in parallel. The role can cover daily operational deliverables and longer‑term strategic projects requiring the management of multiple streams of work to deliver results.
  • Encourages a culture of innovation, actively engaging the business to brainstorm and implement creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Energetic, results driven, team player with well‑developed analytical skills and a track record of exceeding expectations.
  • Challenges conventional approaches and introduces fresh perspectives to enhance business outcomes.
