Job summary

Next Chapter Talent Limited is partnering with a fast-scaling financial services business to appoint a Finance Director. This hands-on leadership role requires a qualified accountant with extensive regulatory and financial reporting expertise to oversee governance, controls, and capital management while partnering with senior stakeholders across the business.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant, ideally ACA.
  • Senior-level experience within financial services, fintech, payments or another regulated environment.
  • Strong UK GAAP and IFRS knowledge.
  • Extensive financial reporting and financial control experience.
  • Proven FCA regulatory reporting experience.
  • Strong understanding of capital requirements and own-funds considerations.
  • Experience within payments, e-money, FX or a comparable financial services environment.
  • Working knowledge of UK tax, including VAT within financial services.
  • Experience managing statutory accounts and external auditors.
  • Excellent communication skills with senior stakeholders.
  • Proven people leadership experience.
  • Strong commercial judgement and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
  • Track record of improving processes, systems and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly management reporting for senior leadership and Board review.
  • Oversee statutory accounts, year-end processes and external audit relationships.
  • Maintain robust financial controls, including reconciliations and delegated authorities.
  • Manage technical accounting matters and integrity of GL and balance sheet.
  • Develop finance policies, processes and controls as the business scales.
  • Drive automation and continuous improvement across the finance function.
  • Oversee tax obligations with specialist support.
  • Own FCA financial and regulatory reporting submissions.
  • Monitor own funds and capital adequacy against regulatory requirements.
  • Support capital planning with CFO and FP&A leadership.
  • Provide financial and prudential information to Board and committees.
  • Support internal audit, risk and compliance with financial data.
  • Maintain finance risk and control frameworks.
  • Implement succession planning and cross-training within the team.
  • Partner with Commercial, Product, Operations, Risk and Tech for decision support.

Finance Director - Fintech - High-Growth International Business

Next Chapter Talent is working with an ambitious, rapidly growing financial services business seeking a commercially minded Finance Director to join its senior leadership team.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a qualified accountant and current Finance Director with strong technical expertise, commercial judgement and experience operating within a regulated environment.

Reporting to the CFO, you will oversee financial reporting, controls, regulatory submissions, capital management and governance, while acting as a strategic partner to the wider business. You will manage complexity across multiple entities and jurisdictions and help develop a scalable, efficient finance function as the business continues to grow internationally.

The Role
  • Leading monthly management reporting for senior leadership and Board review.
  • Overseeing statutory accounts, year-end processes and external audit relationships.
  • Maintaining robust financial controls, including reconciliations, delegated authorities and segregation of duties.
  • Managing technical accounting matters and ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet.
  • Developing finance policies, processes and controls as the business scales.
  • Driving automation, efficiency and continuous improvement across the finance function.
  • Overseeing corporation tax, VAT and employment tax obligations with specialist support where required.
  • Owning FCA financial and regulatory reporting, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
  • Monitoring own funds and capital adequacy against regulatory requirements and agreed internal buffers.
  • Supporting forward capital planning alongside the CFO and FP&A leadership.
  • Providing financial, capital and prudential information to the Board and relevant committees.
  • Supporting internal audit, risk and compliance teams with financial, capital and liquidity information.
  • Maintaining appropriate finance risk and control frameworks.
Leadership & Commercial Partnership

Managing two direct reports, you will develop the finance team, build capability and ensure effective succession and cross-training.

You will partner closely with senior stakeholders across Commercial, Product, Operations, Risk and Technology, providing insight to support sound commercial decisions.

You will also deputise for the CFO when required, representing the finance function with senior stakeholders, investors, banking partners, auditors and regulatory contacts.

The role includes responsibility for supporting counterparty and supplier credit assessments, maintaining relevant credit policies and contributing to exposure reporting.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a qualified accountant, ideally ACA, with significant senior-level experience within financial services, fintech, payments or another regulated environment.

You should have:
