Finance Director

Minimum 4-days per week in the office / 1-day WFH

A leading specialist London law firm is looking to appoint an experienced and commercially minded Finance Director to lead its day-to-day finance function.

Reporting directly to the COO and working closely with the Finance Partner and Equity Partners, this is a senior leadership role with responsibility for financial control, management reporting, cash flow, regulatory compliance and the continued development of the finance function.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted business partner to senior stakeholders, providing commercial insight and financial analysis to support decision-making, while remaining hands‑on across the finance operation.

The role will oversee:

• month-end and year-end processes,
• management accounts,
• budgeting,
• forecasting,
• cash flow,
• WIP,
• billing and aged debt, as well as banking, treasury, payroll and expenses.

You will also manage and develop the Senior Legal Cashier and ensure robust controls are maintained across client and office accounts.

A key part of the role will be driving improvements across finance systems and processes, including automation, reporting and financial controls.

Experience with legal accounting systems such as Efimis would be advantageous.

The ideal candidate will be:

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant senior finance experience.
• Experience within a law firm or regulated professional services environment would be highly desirable, along with knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to work closely with Partners and senior professionals are essential.
