Job description

This exciting opportunity as the first full time Finance Director of a sub £10m T/O SME based in South Leicestershire requires a qualified individual with hands on SME experience and some buy side M&A skills. Advantageous would be knowledge of the technical contract and services sector in the UK.

Client Details

This is a well-established and profitable SME organisation operating within a high growth market segment providing technical/engineering support services for off-site operations. Following recent PE investment they will continue to grow organically and with bolt on acquisitions with the intention of an exit within a three year timescale.

Description
  • Own the end-to-end finance function, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Partner with the CEO and PE investors to deliver strategic financial insight and value creation.
  • Lead financial planning and analysis to support growth initiatives and M&A activity.
  • Ensure robust financial controls, compliance, and governance across the business.
  • Manage relationships with external advisers, auditors, and banks.
  • Build and develop a fit-for-purpose finance team as the business scales.
  • Support commercial decision-making through data-driven analysis and scenario modelling.
  • Oversee tax, treasury, and statutory reporting requirements.
Profile

A Successful Applicant For This Role Must Have

  • Formal accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent)
  • Experience as a Number 1 Finance Director or a Head of Finance reporting to a CFO.
  • Exposure to buy-side M&A or corporate finance activity is required.
  • Experience of operating in a sub £10m T/O SME business is required.
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic mindset, a progressive career trajectory with ambition to grow into a PE-experienced leader.
  • Background in technical /engineering offsite contracting services advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence at board level.
  • Hands on attitude combined with broader commercial and strategic abilities.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The kudos, energy and personality traits required to engender confidence from the Board, external investors and business adviser's.
