Job summary

A leading international insurance firm is looking for a detail-oriented Finance Data & Control Manager to join their finance team. The successful candidate will manage data reconciliations, support financial reporting, and enhance data processes. Candidates should have a strong finance background and excellent data management skills, along with experience in financial services. This role is located in London or Leeds and offers a full-time work arrangement.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with data within any industry; Financial Services is preferable.
  • Extensive experience in financial data management, control frameworks and reconciliation processes.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, finance systems and data flows, with experience resolving legacy data issues.
  • Proficiency in managing data interdependencies, with ability to monitor and remediate manual data adjustments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Excellent communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Finance Data & Control Manager
Leeds or London, Full-Time

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance, Data & Control Manager to join our Finance team . In this role you will support the Head of Change, Data and Control for Finance , Actuarial and Legal (FAL) in implementing a robust Finance Data Control Framework .

Our ideal candidate has a strong Finance background with excellent data and reporting technical skills. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key part ensuring the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of financial data, and make a meaningful impact on both Group and Statutory reporting.

Your New Role

Your natural ability to build strong relationships will result in meaningful collaboration with a variety of key stakeholders across Finance, Actuarial, Finance Systems, Reinsurance Finance and Operations. As part of the wider modernisation initiatives, you’ll also continuously seek opportunities for continuous improvement and to lead data resolutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and oversee source-to-target reconciliations across all Finance data sources, including underwriting, claims and reinsurance inputs , via a Business Event or a Pass-Through Journal
  • Manage data interdependencies ensuring alignment with functions such as Actuarial & the core Data team, including execution of the ‘ 3 -way reconciliation’ and discrepancy resolution
  • Monitor and control manual source data adjustments, and drive remediation of process & IT issues to eliminate manual workarounds
  • Escalate risks related to data misstatements, control weaknesses or process failures to the Chief Accounting Officer , and raise Insight (Risk Tool) issues as appropriate
  • Support monthly close process es by preparing timely and accurate data validation artefacts for Finance
  • Contribute to the production of monthly and quarterly management reports, QBE Group reporting packages, and associated audit documentation
  • Support Modernisation initiatives by providing SME inputs, leading process design and transition into business-as-usual
About You
  • Experience working with D ata within any industry ; F inancial S ervices is preferable
  • Extensive experience in financial data management, control frameworks and reconciliation processes
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting , finance systems and data flows , with experience resolving legacy data issues
  • Proficiency in managing data interdependencies , with a bility to monitor and remediate manual data adjustments
  • S trong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Excellent communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills across cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) , and familiarity with digital tooling ( PowerBI , SQL, Alteryx) is preferable
