Job summary

Centre for Sustainable Energy in Bristol is seeking a Financial Controller to cover a maternity leave of about 15 months. You will lead the finance team, ensure compliance with accounting standards and charity law, and provide timely financial information to support strategic decisions.

Reporting to the Director of Finance & Operations, you will manage payroll, VAT, budgeting, monthly management accounts and the annual audit.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified ACA/ACCA or equivalent accounting qualification.
• Seven+ years post-qualification experience, including financial management.
• Experience with VAT, HMRC and charity accounting in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting, invoicing, payroll and VAT.
• Line manage Finance Manager and Finance Assistant.
• Coordinate annual budget cycle and mid-year refresh.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports for SLT and Trustees.
• Support annual audit and liaise with auditors.
