Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller to join a well-established and growing organisation operating in a complex, project-driven environment. This is a key leadership role within the finance function, responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, driving commercial insight, and supporting strategic decision-making at a senior level.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing all day-to-day finance operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management.
  • You will ensure robust financial controls are in place, maintain compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, and act as a key business partner to senior management by providing insight and analysis to drive performance.
  • Take ownership of the preparation of monthly management accounts, statutory financial statements, and group reporting, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
  • The role will also involve leading the budgeting and forecasting processes, monitoring financial performance against targets, identifying risks and opportunities, and providing clear recommendations to support business decisions.
  • Manage cashflow and working capital, oversee payroll and VAT, and act as the subject matter expert for revenue recognition on long-term contracts.
  • You will drive process improvement and automation initiatives, streamlining financial systems and reporting to enhance efficiency and accuracy across the finance function.
  • Leadership of the finance team is central to this role, you will mentor, coach, and develop team members to achieve high standards of performance, foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and ensure the team delivers an excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders.

This role forms part of the senior leadership team, contributing to long-term financial planning, strategic growth initiatives, and key business decisions. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with proven experience in a senior finance position, a strong technical background, and excellent communication and influencing skills.
