Job description

Job Title: Finance and Contracts Lead (part of the Senior Management Team)

Hours: Basic 32.5 hours per week

Additional Hours: To be worked if necessary to meet the demands of the business

Annual Leave: 28 days plus pro rata bank holidays (30 days after 2 years)

Accountable to: Practice Manager The Partners

Main duties of the job
  • Lead and support the finance team, ensuring workload is prioritised and deadlines are met.
  • Provide finance and administrative support with a particular focus on patient-related requests and requirements.
  • Assist the Practice Manager in monitoring, managing, and reviewing contracts, ensuring all commitments are met and payments are received in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to decisions regarding new or ongoing contracts, assessing financial viability and capacity.
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Management Team to ensure all departments are compliant with coding, template usage, and contractual standards.
  • Highlight any areas requiring review or improvement to maintain compliance and optimise performance.
  • Support the continuous development of efficient systems and processes within the practice.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Finance Lead to join our dynamic finance team at The Deepings Practice. This is a key leadership role, supporting the delivery of high-quality financial management, planning, and reporting across our organisation.

As Finance Lead, you’ll provide analytical insight to clinical and operational teams, helping to ensure that every pound spent delivers maximum value for patient care. You’ll play a vital part in maintaining financial sustainability and supporting the practice’s strategic goals.

Job responsibilities
  • The post holder will have previous financial experience within a primary care environment and be able to support the overall smooth financial operation of the business.
  • The post holder will have excellent communication skills and liaise regularly with the Practice Manager, partners, and accountants to present accurate and timely financial information whilst maintaining confidentiality.
  • Working with the Contracts and Informatics Lead the post holder will ensure the smooth and efficient financial operation of all contracts ensuring we are maximizing profit.
  • To lead the finance team and ensure all work is up to date and the team are being supported.
  • To assist the practice manager in ensuring that all contract commitments are being met and all payments for contract are received in a timely manner.
  • Ensure there are regular meetings to understand any work that may be behind and bring to the attention on the Practice Manager with a working solution. Monthly updates for the Practice Manager on all areas of income. Presentations to the partners at the Finance Meetings as to where we are with QOF, Enhanced Services and other income. Looking for new contracts to take on with a business plan working with the Practice Manager. Ensure the team have regular reviews and look at training needs.
