We are looking for a new member to join our Finance Committee and work with our highly committed staff team to support us in achieving our vision of everyone being empowered to improve health and wellbeing through nutrition grounded in science.

Who are we?

We are the Association for Nutrition (AfN) – the independent regulator for Registered Nutritionists and a registered charity. Our mission is to protect and benefit the public by maintaining the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists (UKVRN) – a register of competent, qualified professionals who meet our rigorous standards for evidence‑based nutrition practice.

About the Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is a sub‑committee of the AfN Council. It plays a vital role in overseeing, scrutinising and challenging the organisation’s financial activities, and provides assurance to the Council on financial matters.

Why Join us?
  • Influence strategy: Help shape the AfN’s financial policies and direction.
  • Grow your skills: Develop strategic thinking, problem‑solving, and teamwork capabilities.
  • Boost your professional development: Enhance your professional development in a governance setting.
  • Network: Collaborate with others who are passionate about advancing nutrition.
  • Build governance experience: Gain valuable experience in the governance and oversight of a charity that serves as a professional regulator and membership organisation.
  • Support and training: Full induction and ongoing support from the AfN team and Committee Chair.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has:

  • A keen eye for detail
  • An interest in and understanding of the importance of finance
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Confidence to challenge constructively
  • A collaborative, diplomatic approach with sound judgement
Role Details
  • Three online meetings per year, approx. 2 hours each
  • Pre‑reading of papers (circulated one week in advance)
