Job summary

Morgan Hunt Recruitment is seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to join a local authority's Children's Services team. You will lead finance teams, oversee large budgets, and influence strategic financial decisions to support services for children, young people and families.

Hybrid working is available with occasional office presence in Bristol. You'll bring CCAB qualification, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to balance financial discipline with service delivery priorities.

Qualifications

• Full CCAB or equivalent qualification is essential.
• Significant experience leading finance teams in a complex organisation.
• Strong finance business partnering with large, complex budgets.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and contribute to strategic decisions.
• Experience in children's social care, SEND or education funding preferred.
• Knowledge of DSG governance advantageous.

What We're Looking For

• Full CCAB or equivalent qualification (essential).
• Significant experience leading finance teams within a complex organisation.
• Strong finance business partnering experience, particularly with large and complex budgets.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and contribute to strategic decision‑making.
• Excellent commercial awareness, analytical skills and financial acumen.
• Ideally, experience within children's social care, SEND or education funding.
• Familiarity with the governance of the Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) would be advantageous.

Working Arrangements

Hybrid working is available, with office attendance in Bristol typically at least one day per month, although this may increase to one day per week depending on business needs.
