Job summary

Finance Business Partner

Location : Lincolnshire Police HQ, Nettleham, Lincoln (Hybrid available after induction)

Contract : Full-time, 37 hours per week(12 month contract)

Pay Rate : £23.72PAYE per hour

Start Date : ASAP (subject to police vetting)

About the Role :

Lincolnshire Police is seeking a proactive and highly skilled Finance Business Partner to provide strategic financial support across the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in enabling effective decision-making, supporting senior leaders, and shaping the future of policing services across the county.

You’ll be joining a collaborative and forward-thinking Finance team dedicated to delivering high professional standards in line with the policing Code of Ethics.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Act as a trusted financial adviser to Senior Leadership Teams across the Force.
  • Prepare monthly management reports and work with budget holders to deliver accurate forecast outturns.
  • Identify and support corrective actions for budget pressures and overspends.
  • Lead financial reviews of revenue and capital budgets, ensuring robust monitoring and challenge.
  • Support annual budget development and proactively identify efficiency and cashable savings.
  • Deliver training on Finance, Procurement and Contract Regulations to enhance financial competence across departments.
  • Provide detailed financial evaluations for new service developments, including affordability, value for money, and DCF techniques.
  • Advise on commercial and taxation considerations, particularly VAT and capital projects.
  • Ensure month-end activities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Contribute to statutory financial statements, including notes to the accounts and outturn analyses.
  • Work closely with auditors and internal committees to support transparency and compliance.
Essential skills and experience :
  • Confidence working with non-financial managers and presenting complex information clearly.
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
  • Excellent Excel skills and experience using financial systems.
  • A collaborative, proactive approach with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and upholding the values of the organisation.
  • Full AAT or part-qualified CCAB (ACCA, ICAEW, CIPFA) or CIMA
  • Fully qualified CCAB / CIMA accountant with completed practical experience
  • Public sector finance experience (local authority, NHS, policing).
  • Experience as a Finance Business Partner or Management Accountant.
  • Knowledge of IFRS, DCF evaluation techniques, and public sector VAT.
