Job summary

B&M Retail seeks a commercially minded Finance Business Partner to support the management and control of Central Costs, partnering with the People team. The role suits a newly qualified accountant or someone with 2–3 years PQE, offering exposure to governance, dashboards and cost analysis.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or nearing completion, with ~2–3 years post-qualification experience in a commercial finance, FP&A or finance business partnering role.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate financial information for non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience supporting budgets, forecasts and management reporting in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the People team and budget holders to provide financial insight and support on workforce and cost decisions.
• Review and validate costings for new roles, restructures and changes ensuring alignment with budget and governance.
• Develop and embed governance processes for headcount management and central cost control.
• Produce and analyse monthly central cost reporting, highlighting variances, risks and opportunities.
• Build dashboards and KPIs using Power BI and Excel for timely stakeholder insights.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting across central cost areas, focusing on people-related expenditure.
• Improve data quality, reporting consistency and transparency across central costs.
• Provide analysis and commentary to support decision-making for department leaders.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting, processes and controls within central cost environment.
• Support ad hoc commercial analysis and business cases as required.

At B\&M, we\'re looking for a commercially minded Finance Business Partner to support the management and control of our Central Costs, with a particular focus on partnering with our People team. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified accountant or someone with 2-3 years\' post-qualification experience looking to take the next step in their business partnering career.

Working closely with Finance, People and Functional Leadership teams, you\'ll help provide insight, challenge and financial support across our people-related cost base. You\'ll play a key role in strengthening governance processes, reviewing the financial impact of new roles and organisational changes, and developing dashboards that provide greater visibility of performance and spend.

This role offers significant exposure across the business and the opportunity to help shape how we manage and govern central costs as B\&M continues to grow.

Based at our Support Centre in Speke, the role is primarily office-based with one day per week working from home.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the People team and budget holders across central functions to provide financial insight, challenge and support on workforce and cost-related decisions.

About You

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or nearing completion, with approximately 2-3 years\' post-qualification experience in a commercial finance, FP&A or finance business partnering role. Equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial information and communicate insights clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience supporting budgets, forecasts and management reporting within a fast-paced business environment.
• Confident building financial models and performing cost analysis, ideally including people-related costs, headcount planning or central overheads.
• Strong Excel skills, with experience using Power BI or similar dashboarding and reporting tools.
• Naturally collaborative, with the ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders across different functions.
• Curious and proactive, with a desire to improve processes, reporting and financial controls.
• Comfortable working with detail while maintaining focus on the wider commercial picture.
