The Department for Work and Pensions is one of the largest Departments in Whitehall, managing the delivering of benefit payments to citizens totalling over £200bn annually. Working in Finance Group in Government, your role is to protect public funds and add value through finance assurance activities. We are looking for an experienced, qualified finance professional to join our small team providing financial support to DWP’s Service Delivery Commercial, Financial & Shared Services, and Automated Buying, Business Services and External Resources Commercial functions covering a portfolio of c £2.8bn. The portfolio includes a wide variety of contracts in a number of areas including contact centres, banking, travel, logistics, and document management. It is a fast-moving and interesting role, and you will be in the heart of decision making for some of DWP’s most critical contracts. The successful candidate will provide advice and insight on the financial implications of commercial contracts and commercial strategy decisions. Responsibilities will involve providing support throughout the commercial lifecycle, including procurement stages, design of pricing mechanism, evaluation of tenders, assessment of supplier viability and in-life management. The role involves working in multi-disciplinary teams across the department and is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to hone their commercial skills.
