Job Description

The Commercial Finance Business Partner plays a pivotal role in supporting business units by providing financial insight and analysis to influence strategic decisions and drive financial performance. This role requires close collaboration with operational teams to understand business drivers, deliver accurate forecasting, and ensure financial objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide financial analysis and commercial insight to support business decision-making and strategy development.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Analyse financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities and recommending corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support business cases, investment decisions, and commercial initiatives.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to understand key business drivers and translate these into financial metrics and reports.
  • Prepare clear, concise reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders, highlighting financial trends and performance.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial reporting activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of information.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency within the finance function and wider business.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to commercial teams, providing guidance on financial implications of business decisions.
Required Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to a non-finance audience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with the commercial team.
Experience
  • At least five years' experience in a commercial finance or finance business partnering role
  • Proven track record of supporting commercial teams and influencing business decisions through financial insight.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with financial reporting software.
  • Ability to interpret and convey financial data to non-financial colleagues.
  • Good organisational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
Working Conditions
  • Based in the North West England region, with a requirement to work on-site in Cheshire 3 days per week and an optin to do 2 days WFH
