About APM Terminals

APM Terminals (APMT) is a key component of the Maersk Ocean and Logistics network, serving other shipping lines, cargo owners, freight forwarders, intermodal logistics providers and integrating with port authorities, customs and government bodies across global terminals.

Position Overview

We are looking for an Information Modeler – Lean Systems Strategy to design and implement business information models that support our data‑driven initiatives. The role collaborates closely with information/data architects, analysts and business stakeholders to translate requirements into conceptual and logical models, and supports software engineers in physical data model implementation. The modeler ensures model accuracy, completeness and consistency, maintains documentation and metadata, and communicates complex data concepts to non‑technical audiences.

Responsibilities
  • Drive development of the information model for APMT’s future operational system functionalities.
  • Gather, clarify and define current and future gaps and requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Act as a bridge between business and technical teams to facilitate shared understanding.
  • Apply Maersk data modelling tools and technologies to ensure efficient and accurate data modelling processes.
  • Create and maintain data dictionaries and metadata repositories for consistency and integrity.
  • Document and communicate business information model designs and standards across business and technology teams.
  • Provide input to database engineers on model performance issues to optimize database functionality.
  • Facilitate information modelling and event storming workshops to develop business objects, event models and APIs.
  • Maintain open communication with stakeholders, gathering feedback and ensuring project alignment.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and incorporate new techniques and methodologies.
Qualifications / Skills
  • Strong understanding of business information modelling concepts and tools.
  • Experience designing and implementing business information model structures.
  • Technical skill in business information administration and governance.
  • Ability to create and maintain conceptual and logical business information models.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO, UNCEFACT, maritime terminal (TIC4.0), shipping (SMDG, DSCA), and manufacturing (ISA‑95).
  • Experience with modelling languages (UML, ArchiMate) and understanding of BPMN, EDI, EDIFACT.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaborate across cross‑functional teams.
  • High discipline, proactive attitude and the ability to manage multiple initiatives.
  • Experience with terminal operations and terminal operating systems is preferred.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information science, applied mathematics or a related field.
