Job description

MCS Group are delighted to be partnering with this large public body in their search for a Finance Assistant.

The role:

  • Accounting & Reporting: Prepare and review journal entries in Oracle and support month-end/year-end reconciliations and audit documentation using Excel and other tools.
  • Payment Processing: Manage and authorize a variety of domestic and international payment types, ensuring compliance with policies and timely execution.
  • Reconciliation & Issue Resolution: Monitor and reconcile credit card receipts, daily bank transactions, and resolve discrepancies through cross-department collaboration.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and external partners (e.g., banks, payment providers) to maintain smooth operations and resolve contract or service issues.
  • Fraud Prevention: Safeguard against payment fraud by tightly controlling changes to supplier banking details within financial systems.
  • Cash Management: Optimize returns through effective cash pooling and investment of balances in accordance with policy.
  • System & Process Improvement: Continuously develop Oracle cash management expertise and contribute to innovative, efficient financial solutions across the business.

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

  • Experience of working in a Finance/Accounting environment
  • Third level HNC/HND/Degree (or equivalent) Business/Finance related qualification.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of Oracle Financials
