Zinc in London seeks a Finance Assistant to own day-to-day AP/AR processes, mailbox management, and debt chasing. You’ll work closely with the Senior Finance Manager and help turn a multi-day process into a matter of hours, with a clear path into broader finance roles.

The role is hands-on and detail-heavy, offering growth opportunities as you contribute across the finance team and leverage AI tools to optimize workflows.

Qualifications

• 6 months - 1 year of experience in a finance role such as AR/AP Assistant or Finance Assistant
• Working knowledge of Xero (or similar accounting software), reconciliations and month-end close (accruals, prepayments, VAT)
• Comfortable adopting AI tools (Claude) as part of daily workflow
• A university degree is sufficient
• Diligent with high attention to detail; small errors have knock-on effects
• Personable and proactive; able to chase customers and colleagues tactfully
• Ambition to build a career in finance; role is initial grunt-heavy with growth potential

Responsibilities

• Own the shared Finance Mailbox, respond to and resolve queries daily
• Handle daily AM-Ops requests; finance contact for Account Management team
• Manage subscription creation and billing setup weekly
• Run weekly reconciliations across accounts
• Own debt chasing to keep debtor days down
• Deliver monthly invoicing and manage overages
• End-to-end accounts payable: process supplier invoices, payment runs, coding and approvals
• Assist with closing books to tight cadence: OPEX by WD1, revenue by WD3
• Assist with VAT returns and routine statutory filings
• Use Zinc's tools (Xero, HubSpot, Stripe, Sigma) and Claude to work efficiently
