Main Duties of the Job
You’ll support the Finance Department by:
- Ensuring accurate analysis and processing of financial data in line with internal policies.
- Responding promptly to enquiries from suppliers, staff and donors with clear, timely advice.
- Collaborating with finance colleagues to meet financial reporting deadlines.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Securely receiving, counting, banking, and recording all physical income.
- Downloading, reconciling, and recording electronic income.
- Managing petty cash, miscellaneous banking, and general office duties.
- Accurately entering donations into the database and managing Gift Aid declarations.
- Ensuring compliance with Gift Aid, Direct Debits, and Data Protection regulations.
- Investigating and resolving queries across income streams, including invoicing and online donations.
- Processing and reconciling the Purchase Ledger and maintaining supplier communications.
- Reconciling bank accounts for both the Hospice and its Trading Company.

Person Specification
- Essential: Demonstrate experience working in an office or financial environment as part of a collaborative team.
- Manage time and workload effectively, prioritising tasks to meet deadlines.
- Show understanding of key financial processes including cash handling, banking, reconciliations and both Purchase and Sales Ledgers.
- Provide evidence of experience using accounting software to process Sales and Purchase invoices and post basic journals.
- Display proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams and Excel (basic formulas).
- Express a commitment to developing IT and digital skills to support evolving finance systems and processes.
- Able to travel independently between Heald Green and Little Hulton sites.
