Job summary

Old Mill in Yeovil is seeking a Finance Assistant to join our friendly finance team. You'll handle day-to-day accounting tasks, process invoices, manage supplier payments and assist with reconciliations, helping ensure accurate records.

This role offers variety and the chance to develop your bookkeeping skills within a supportive environment; prior experience and Excel proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Process supplier invoices and maintain records.
  • Manage supplier payments and resolve queries.
  • Allocate incoming receipts and support sales ledger activities.
  • Assist with credit control where required.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations.
  • Support balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processes.
  • Assist with accruals, prepayments and journal preparation.
  • Prepare information for audits and financial reporting.
  • Maintain finance systems and support reporting requirements.
  • Assist with process improvements and finance projects.
  • Provide general support across the wider finance team.

Are you looking for a varied finance role where you can develop your skills, work with a supportive team and gain exposure to a broad range of accounting activities?


We're looking for a Finance Assistant to join our Yeovil-based finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with finance or bookkeeping experience who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems and ensuring everything is completed accurately and efficiently.


Working closely with experienced colleagues, you'll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the finance function across a number of businesses.


The Opportunity

You'll be involved in everything from processing invoices and supplier payments to bank reconciliations, month-end activities and supporting wider finance projects. It's a great opportunity to broaden your experience and build a strong foundation for a long-term career in finance.


What You'll Be Doing


  • Processing supplier invoices and maintaining accurate records

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with numbers, takes pride in producing accurate work and has a positive, team-focused approach.


You'll ideally have:



  • Previous experience in a finance, accounts or bookkeeping role

  • A good understanding of accounts payable and receivable processes

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Good organisational and time management skills

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Office skills

  • The ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues

  • A proactive and reliable approach


It would be advantageous if you also have:



  • Experience using accounting or ERP systems

  • Exposure to reconciliations and month-end activities

  • AAT qualification or current AAT studies
