Job description
Job specification

If you're the kind of person who notices when the numbers don't quite add up, we'd like to hear from you.

Spear & Jackson UK are looking for a Finance Assistant who enjoys making sure everything adds up, payments go out on time, and customers pay when they should. You will be joining a supportive and professional finance team where accuracy, collaboration, and integrity are valued and recognised.

This role is key to ensuring our financial records remain accurate and up to date. Working as part of our finance team, you will be responsible for processing supplier invoices, coordinating payments, and maintaining the purchase ledger. You will investigate and resolve any discrepancies promptly and professionally, ensuring suppliers are paid correctly and on time. It's the kind of role where you'll be switching between suppliers, spreadsheets, and colleagues across departments, and you'll be the calm, organised person keeping all on track.

The position also involves supporting our credit control processes, helping to manage outstanding debts and maintain effective relationships with customers. You will monitor and reconcile cash receipts, support sales and purchase transactions, and work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to ensure smooth financial operations.

To succeed in this role, you will need a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, along with excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills. You should be highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities and be committed to maintaining accuracy in your work.

Previous experience with SAP or other ERP systems, and experience in accounts payable or credit control would be advantageous but is not essential.

If you are methodical, reliable and looking to develop your finance career within an established and respected organisation, we would be pleased to hear from you.
