Job summary

A global manufacturing firm is seeking a Finance Assistant to manage subsidiary accounting, budgeting, and cashflow forecasting. The ideal candidate should have prior accounting experience and strong organisational skills. Salary ranges from GBP 23,900 to GBP 30,000 depending on experience, coupled with excellent benefits including hybrid working, holidays, and training opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Self-driven, friendly with focus on high quality.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and multitask.
  • Previous accounting experience, AAT/CIMA/ACCA part-qualified or equivalent.
  • Computer literate in all MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage subsidiary accounting tasks including salaries, journals, and reconciliations.
  • Assist with budgeting and cashflow forecasting.
  • Perform VAT reconciliations and financial accounts processes.
  • Provide audit assistance and year-end reporting.
  • Attend annual stock checks and manage treasury cover.

Finance Assistant sought by a global, GBP multibillion plastics manufacturer with close to 200 locations worldwide.

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, as a Finance Assistant your responsibilities will include:

  • Subsidiary accounting, involving a range of tasks from salaries, journals, accruals and prepayments, pension, reconciliations, TB, fixed assets and producing monthly accounts
  • Subsidiary budgeting
  • Cashflow forecasting
  • VAT reconciliations
  • Financial accounts reconciliations and processes (such as BS, PL and GRNI rec etc)
  • Financial accounting general enquiries
  • Audit assistance: year:end, interim and statutory audit, HMRC government audits and other audit requirements
  • Year End reporting and other adhoc reporting requirements
  • Annual stock check attendance
  • Treasury cover: raising payments, inter:company netting, bank and group correspondence and bank reconciliations
The Successful Finance Assistant Will Demonstrate

Credentials and attributes the role requires include:

  • Self-driven, friendly and a positive disposition, with a clear focus on high quality and delivering results
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, excellent organisation skills
  • Actively participates in team work to ensure organisational goals are met
  • The ability to prioritise own workload and multitask
  • Previous accounting experience, AAT/CIMA/ACCA part:qualified or equivalent
  • Computer literate in all MS Office applications
  • Previous working knowledge of SAP and SAGE would be an advantage
