Job summary

A local recruitment agency in England is seeking a Finance Assistant for a part-time position in Nelson.   • Process purchase invoices to the ledger, checking detail and matching GRM's.
  • Prepare suggested payment runs and allocate payments from the bank to the ledger.
  • Reconcile supplier accounts and maintain an accurate ledger.
  • Chase overdue customer accounts and resolve queries.
  • Support the weekly payroll when required.

Job description

Finance Assistant required in Nelson for a permanent part-time position.

Hours of work will be either 5 hours per day Monday to Friday or 6 hours per day Monday to Thursday, rate of pay would be £33,000 pro rata.

The role is to assist the Financial Controller in maintaining the sales, purchase and nominal ledgers, managing cash flow of the business, preparing the monthly accounts and supporting the weekly and monthly payrolls.

Responsibilities
  • Processing purchase invoices to the ledger, checking detail and matching GRM's
  • Preparing suggested payment runs and accurately allocating payments from the bank to the ledger
  • Making payments under approval for the Financial Controller
  • Reconciling supplier accounts, resolving issues as necessary and maintaining an accurate ledger
  • Uploading sales invoices to the sales ledger
  • Posting receipts from the bank to the ledger
  • Reconciling customer accounts to statements, resolving issues and maintaining an accurate ledger
  • Responding to information requests from the invoice factoring provider
  • Chasing overdue customer accounts and resolving queries with the Financial Controller and the Sales Team as necessary
  • Reconciling bank statements
  • Processing and checking expense claims
  • Supporting the weekly payroll when required to cover holidays
  • Any other ad hoc finance duties required by the Financial Controller
Skills and Knowledge
  • Experience using Xero accounting software
  • Experience managing currency conversions
  • Awareness and knowledge of EU VAT codes
  • Prior knowledge of processing payroll
  • AAT Level 1 or 2 or equivalent
