Overview

Are you an organised and detail-oriented finance professional with a background in transactional processing and accounts administration? We're recruiting a Finance Operational Assistant to join a dynamic and supportive public sector finance team for a 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-impact work within a respected national organisation that supports workforce development, digital innovation, and operational excellence in the health and care sector.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Work as part of the Governance & Operational Finance Team, supporting the day-to-day management of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Handle expense processing and treasury tasks.
  • Perform invoice matching and query resolution.
  • Set up customer and supplier accounts.
  • Conduct supplier statement reconciliations.
  • Support internal and external audit reviews.
  • Rotate tasks with two other colleagues to ensure efficient, accurate processing and service delivery.
What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in a finance or business support role.
  • Knowledge of invoice processing and basic accounting principles.
  • Strong administration and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workloads independently.
  • Strong customer service approach and excellent communication skills.
  • A flexible, proactive, and values-driven attitude.
Desirable
  • Experience in at least two of the following: Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, Payroll, Treasury, Expenses.
  • Familiarity with eFinancials, PECOS, or similar finance systems.
  • Experience within healthcare, social care, or education sectors.
  • Knowledge of GDPR and handling sensitive data appropriately.
