Job summary

CBSbutler is recruiting a Finance Assistant on an initial 12-month contract in the United Kingdom. You will support the Finance Director and Financial Controller with forecasting, planning and cost control across the business, combining financial analysis with operational partnering.

You will work with diverse teams to understand costs, resource needs and financial performance, contributing to continuous improvement of financial processes.

Qualifications

• Some finance knowledge with debits/credits, cash and P&L.
• Involvement in cash flow forecasting and cost centre reports.
• Experience with coding for procurement would be helpful.
• AAT or CIMA would be useful.
• Experience with government or MOD programmes would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and analyse cost, revenue and cash forecasts across the business.
• Forecast resource requirements and associated costs with operational teams.
• Monitor actual costs and revenue against forecast with variance analysis and insight.
• Support financial planning, forecasting and regular operational performance processes.
• Work with managers to understand and control operational costs.
• Liaise with Procurement to ensure open commitments and costs are recognised.
• Support cost allocation, journals, accruals, and month-end activities.
• Provide financial analysis and reporting to support management decisions.
• Produce management information and ad-hoc reporting.
• Support the invoicing process for internal and external customers.
• Collaborate with finance, procurement and operational teams for accurate reporting.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support new financial initiatives.

Working closely with the Finance Director and Financial Controller, you role will be of a support nature, supporting financial planning, forecasting and control across the business. The role combines financial analysis with operational partnering, working with teams across the organisation to understand costs, resource requirements and financial performance.

Key responsibilities:

• Work with operational teams to forecast resource requirements and associated costs.
• Monitor actual costs and revenue against forecast and provide clear variance analysis and insight.
• Support financial planning, forecasting and regular operational performance processes.
• Work with managers to understand, manage and control operational costs.
• Liaise with Procurement to ensure open commitments and costs are accurately recognised.
• Support cost allocation, journals, accruals, sales reserves and month-end activities.
• Provide financial analysis and reporting to support management decision-making.
• Produce meaningful management information and ad-hoc reporting
• Support the invoicing process for internal and external customers.
• Work collaboratively with finance, procurement and operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support the implementation of new financial initiatives and processes.

About you:

We are looking for someone with:

• Some finance knowledge would be ideal - debits/ credits, cash and Profit & Loss
• You will have had some involvement in cash flow forecasting, providing cost centre reports and used to dealing with coding for procurement.
• Whilst you do not need to be fully qualified, AAT or CIMA would be useful.
• Experience working with government or MOD programmes would be beneficial.
