Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant based in Bedford to join one of our growing clients on a part-time permanent basis.

Salary: £DOE
Location: Bedford
Type of Contract: Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday 9:30am 2:30pm (flexible around school hours)

  • Process a high volume of purchase orders and manage related supplier accounts.
  • Support sales order processing and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Prepare financial statements, forecasts, and reports on both projected and actual performance.
  • Assist with budget preparation, helping to streamline processes and improve financial efficiency.
  • Monitor costs and revenue, working closely with department heads to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Support the development of financial strategies to maximise profitability and control expenditure.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with accounting standards and internal procedures.
  • Contribute to productivity improvements by helping to refine financial systems and models.
  • Previous experience in a finance or accounts-based role.
  • Proficient in Xero accounting software (essential).
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Analytical mindset with an interest in financial process improvement.
  • AAT or similar accountancy qualification is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively.
