Job summary

The North East Business and Innovation Centre (BIC) is offering a Finance Assistant apprenticeship to join our finance team. This hands-on role supports day-to-day financial operations, giving you real insight into cash flow, invoicing, expenses and ledgers.

As an apprentice, you will work closely with experienced staff, study for the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship, and receive regular training time and review meetings.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and IT skills with attention to detail.
• Proficient with basic office software and financial record keeping.
• Strong organisational abilities and accuracy in data entry.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily cash flow and monitor bank accounts.
• Raise sales invoices and purchase orders promptly.
• Process staff expenses accurately and within timescales.
• Handle supplier payments according to terms.
• Maintain Sales, Purchase and General ledgers.
• Record incoming payments and issue monthly customer statements.
• Process bank cash and cheque payments.
• Support debt collection and debtor reporting.
