Job summary

SF Recruitment in Nottingham is seeking a Finance Analyst - Data & Reporting for an initial 3-month temporary contract with potential extension. Hybrid pattern: 4 days in the office initially, then 2-3 days as training completes.

Role focuses on extracting and analysing financial data, producing regular reports and dashboards, and supporting month-end processes within the Finance team.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Excel, including formulas, pivot tables and data manipulation.
• Interest in data and investigating discrepancies or problems.
• Finance experience with basic processes, ideally including Sales Ledger.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Highly organised with good attention to detail and ability to manage priorities.
• Confident communicating findings to stakeholders across the business.
• Experience with NetSuite or another ERP system is advantageous.
• Proactive approach to question processes and improve them.

Responsibilities

• Extract, analyse and manipulate financial and sales ledger data to support reporting and decision-making.
• Produce regular finance reports, dashboards and analysis, identifying trends, variances and risks.
• Investigate data discrepancies and account queries, working with teams to resolve issues.
• Support reconciliations, month-end reporting and wider Finance processes.
• Maintain and review finance and customer data for accuracy.
• Identify gaps or inefficiencies and suggest improvements.
• Collaborate with Finance, Sales and other teams to ensure reliable reporting.
• Provide analyses and updates to the Financial Controller highlighting key findings.
• Support ad hoc analysis, projects and system/process improvements.

SF Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Finance Analyst - Data & Reporting to join a Nottingham based business on an initial 3-month temporary contract, with potential for a longer-term requirement. This is a newly created role within the Finance team following a wider business restructure, which has highlighted a need for additional support around finance data, reporting and processes.

The role:

• Location: Nottingham
• Salary: £28,000
• Contract: Initial 3-month temporary contract, with potential to extend
• Hours: 39 hours per week - 8am-5pm Monday to Thursday and 8am-4pm Friday, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.
• Working pattern: Hybrid - 4 days per week in the office initially for training, moving to 2-3 days once fully trained

Key responsibilities:

• Extract, analyse and manipulate financial and sales ledger data to support reporting and decision-making.
• Produce regular finance reports, dashboards and analysis, identifying trends, variances, exceptions and areas requiring attention.
• Investigate data discrepancies, account queries and other issues, working with relevant teams to understand and resolve problems.
• Support reconciliations, month-end reporting and wider Finance processes.
• Maintain and review finance and customer data, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
• Identify gaps or inefficiencies within existing processes and suggest improvements.
• Work closely with Finance, Sales and other internal teams to ensure data and reporting is accurate and reliable.
• Provide analysis and updates to the Financial Controller, highlighting key findings, risks and actions required.
• Support ad hoc analysis, projects and system/process improvements as required.

About you:

• Strong experience working with Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, charts and data manipulation.
• A genuine interest in working with data and investigating discrepancies or problems.
• Previous experience within a Finance environment, with an understanding of basic finance processes, ideally including Sales Ledger.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to spot inconsistencies and understand the reasons behind them.
• Highly organised, with good attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Confident communicating findings and explaining data to stakeholders across the business.
• Experience with NetSuite or another ERP system would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
• A proactive approach, with the confidence to question processes and look for ways to improve them.
