A leading automation solutions provider is seeking a Field Service Representative in the UK to focus on controls engineering. This role involves programming PLC and PC systems, troubleshooting equipment at customer sites, and working independently or as part of a team. Candidates should have at least four years of hands-on experience in automation and controls, along with strong interpersonal skills. The position requires substantial travel (50 to 75% per month) to assist customers effectively.
Our After Sales & Service team in our UK division is currently looking for a bright, ambitious Field Service Representative – Controls Engineering who enjoys teamwork and on-going challenging projects. The Field Service Representative (Controls) will be responsible for design, development, troubleshooting, and documentation of complete control programs for custom automation equipment. Programming of control systems using PLC’s, PCs, servo drives, robots, and other more specialized controllers is a requirement. Skilled in troubleshooting of electrical controls and mechanical mechanisms. Need for good organization skills as well as self‑discipline, working well with minimal supervision.
A post‑secondary diploma or degree specializing in programming/electrical engineering or equivalent. Database/Robot/Vision experience is an asset.
A minimum of four years of experience in a hands‑on automation/controls environment. 3+ years of experience programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Human/Machine Interfaces (HMI) using Allen Bradley or Siemens software.
Must be willing to travel to customer sites. Travel time will range from 50 to 75% per month.
The successful candidate is a good communicator, displays professionalism and has well‑developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of customer and ATS management in a multi‑disciplined engineering environment under pressure. An excellent understanding of pneumatic, electrical and multiple controls systems, along with the ability to read drawings, reference manuals and systems instruction guides is essential. Must have experience and be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Individual must have the ability to quickly gain knowledge to readily troubleshoot systems.
