Job summary

TOMRA is seeking a Field Engineer to install, maintain and repair TOMRA reverse vending machines at customer sites across the UK. You will diagnose issues, perform preventive and reactive maintenance, and support the install/commissioning of new machines after training.

This hands-on role offers variety, autonomy and clear opportunities to learn in a safety‑focused environment, with travel within your region and occasional overnight stays. Full UK driving licence required.

Qualifications

  • A solid foundation in electro‑mechanical systems, with interest in analysing and repairing complex equipment.
  • Curious, solution‑oriented mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Customer‑focused approach with clear communication.
  • Comfortable working independently and in a team.
  • Flexibility to travel and manage field‑based schedule.
  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Perform preventative maintenance and reactive repairs to maximise uptime.
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new machines after training.
  • Build relationships with customers and act as TOMRA's face.
  • Liaise with retailers and site contacts for smooth service.
  • Travel regionally, with occasional overnight stays.
  • Record work and machine status using digital tools (IFS).
  • Keep van stock and equipment organized.
  • Share feedback to improve products and processes.
  • Stay updated with TOMRA technology and develop skills.

Job Description

As a Field Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting TOMRA’s mission to transform the way the world recycles—while always putting safety first. Whether working with equipment, customers, or travelling between sites, you’ll operate in a safety‑focused environment where the wellbeing of our people and customers is a top priority.

You’ll help keep our technology running smoothly by maintaining, repairing, and optimising equipment at customer sites. This is a hands‑on, early‑career role with a mix of planned and reactive work, offering variety, autonomy, and strong opportunities to learn and grow in a supportive team environment. You’ll be a key part of delivering a great customer experience while building your technical expertise.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Install, maintain, and repair TOMRA reverse vending machines (RVMs) at customer locations
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues, with support from experienced colleagues when needed
  • Carry out both preventative maintenance and reactive repairs to ensure equipment uptime
  • Support the installation and commissioning of new machines following training
  • Build positive relationships with customers, acting as a trusted and friendly face of TOMRA
  • Work closely with retailers and site contacts to ensure a smooth and professional service experience
  • Travel regularly within your region, with occasional overnight stays and visits to service hubs
  • Accurately record work, service updates, and machine status using digital tools and systems (IFS)
  • Keep your van stock and equipment organised and ready for use
  • Share feedback and ideas to help improve our products and processes
  • Stay up to date with TOMRA’s technology and continuously develop your skills

Ways of Working

  • This role involves a rotating schedule (rota‑based), with flexibility as the team grows
  • Occasional shift or weekend work will be required over time
  • You’ll follow established safety procedures, including TOMRA Safe and LOTO standards
  • You’ll be supported with training, tools, and a collaborative team culture
