Job description
Field Service Engineer (Woodworking / Machine Tools)

£50,000 - £60,000 + Van

Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire

Are you an experienced Field Service Engineer with a background in woodworking or machine tools, looking to step into a stable, long-term position within a tight-knit, family-run business? Do you want the autonomy and responsibility to become the go-to expert for on-site repairs, servicing, and installations?

Established over 30 years ago, this company has built a strong reputation for excellence in machine tool sharpening, repair, and maintenance. They supply, service, and install an extensive range of woodworking and metalworking machinery and tooling for manufacturers and tradespeople across the UK – from Cleckheaton to Glasgow and beyond.

As the current owner begins to phase into retirement, the company is seeking a Field Service Engineer to take over his role. You’ll play a vital part in maintaining relationships with long‑standing clients and ensuring the continued reliability of their machinery. Your work will vary day to day – from servicing and repairing guillotines, panel saws, beam saws, and grinders, to removing blades for sharpening in the workshop and refitting them on site.

You’ll typically operate within a 30‑mile radius of Cleckheaton, with occasional travel further afield across the UK. The company offers flexibility in working hours, a van with personal use (within reason), and a stable, supportive working environment where you’ll be valued as part of the family.

This role would suit a mature, hands‑on Field Service Engineer looking for stability, autonomy, and the opportunity to step into a long‑term role with genuine trust and independence.

The Role
  • Service, repair and maintain woodworking and machine tools across client sites

  • Work autonomously with flexibility to plan your day efficiently
