Job summary

InPost UK is seeking a hands-on Field Service Engineer to join our Network Health team, focusing on Surrey. You will repair parcel lockers on client sites, perform break-fix, maintenance, software configuration and provide technical support.

Based in or near Surrey (with Hemel Hempstead office visits), you’ll diagnose faults, implement upgrades, and contribute to documentation and new solutions, while training employees and subcontractors as needed. 40-hour week, company van provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in field service on electrical/mechanical equipment.
• Proficient with hand and diagnostic tools (multimeter).
• On-site repair and maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair faults on parcel locker machines on site.
• Maintain and modernise lockers with hardware/software upgrades.
• Install and reconfigure computer software/firmware.
• Report repairs using internal channels.
• Manage tools and components for lockers.
• Support subcontractors and staff with technical training.
• Develop solutions for new locker types.
• Prepare and update technical manuals and documentation.

About The Role

A hands on field-based role to repair our parcel lockers on client’s sites, task include Break-fix, Maintenance, software configuration, quality control, and providing technical support and training to employees and subcontractors. Actively involved in developing new solutions and maintaining technical documentation.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Diagnosing and repairing faults and malfunctions of parcel locker machines (APMs) on site, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
• Maintenance and modernisation of parcel locker machines, including implementing hardware and software upgrades to enhance reliability and efficiency.
• Diagnostics, reconfiguration, and installation of computer software or firmware for computer, electronic, and electromechanical equipment, ensuring compatibility and security compliance.
• Processing and reporting on assigned repairs using communication channels utilised within the organisation
• Managing tools and components for parcel locker machines.
• Handling systems for managing personnel-related matters.
• Quality control of work performed by internal employees and subcontractors ensuring adherence to technical standards, contractual agreements, and company guidelines
• Providing technical and substantive support to employees and subcontractors (including international ones) via communication and IT channels used within the company.
• Participating in the development of solutions for new types of parcel locker machines.
• Preparing and updating technical manuals and documentation.

This role will require occasional training and visits to our office base in Hemel Hempstead and will need to be located near or within the Surrey area to be considered to focus on covering this patch area.

Hours are 8:30 - 5:30 (40 hr work week). You will be provided a van but it will be for company use only.

You will need similar experience in a Field service technical engineering role on electrical/mechanical equipment and be proficient in the use of hand tools and diagnostic tools (multi‑meter).
