Job description

Our focus is on providing equipment for the construction, material handling, recycling, and transport industry. Launched in 2010, we have already obtained a significant heritage that dates back to 1946. Our mix of agility and international experience gives us the advantage of a synergetic environment. We are active in large parts of Africa, Belgium & Luxembourg, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and in US.

About the Role

Are you an experienced engineer with a background in construction plant, heavy equipment, agricultural machinery, HGVs, or a similar mechanical environment?

We’re looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our Customer Support team, providing maintenance, diagnostics, and repair services to customers across North and North West London. This field-based role covers areas including Watford, St Albans, Hemel Hempstead, Harrow, Barnet, Enfield, Uxbridge, and the surrounding region.

You’ll play a key role in supporting Volvo construction equipment customers, ensuring machines are maintained to the highest standards and remain operational in demanding environments. Working independently across your territory, you’ll build strong customer relationships while delivering expert technical support and exceptional service.

Please note: Applicants must hold an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or a related engineering discipline, and have experience maintaining and repairing construction plant equipment. Applications from candidates who do not meet these requirements are unlikely to be progressed.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll be responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing Volvo construction equipment within your designated territory. Working directly with customers, you’ll ensure equipment is maintained to the highest standards while identifying opportunities to improve machine performance and maximise uptime.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on Volvo construction equipment and associated machinery.
  • Identifying and resolving mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related faults using technical expertise and diagnostic equipment.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for customers, providing updates on machine status, repair progress, and recommended actions.
  • Completing all job documentation, inspection reports, timesheets, and electronic records accurately and in real time.
  • Maintaining high standards of safety, professionalism, housekeeping, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
About You

We’re looking for a self‑motivated and customer‑focused engineer who enjoys working independently while providing an excellent service to customers.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant, with strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, drivetrains, electrics, and diagnostic systems.
  • Advanced fault-finding and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently in a field‑based environment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the confidence to build effective working relationships.
  • A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel, work overtime, and support customer requirements when needed.
What’s in It for You?

Alongside a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, wellbeing, finances, and work‑life balance. Benefits include a Health Cash Plan, 24/7 GP access, free physiotherapy support, enhanced family leave, enhanced sick pay, IVF support, pension contributions matched up to 5%, car leasing and cycle‑to‑work schemes, plus access to a wide range of retail and lifestyle discounts.

You’ll also benefit from our refer‑a‑friend scheme, paid volunteering day, long service awards, Christmas shutdown as part of your holiday allowance, and opportunities to get involved through our Employee Council, Social Committee, and Caring, Daring, Sharing awards programme.
