Overview

Field Service Engineer — £50,000 to £60,000 + Benefits — West Sussex / Global Travel (30%-40%)

Join a pioneering team delivering advanced semiconductor processing equipment to a global market. This is an exciting opportunity for a Field Service Engineer with strong electro-mechanical experience to support installations, upgrades, servicing and fault diagnosis for high-technology systems used across the Semiconductor, Photovoltaic, LED and MEMS sectors.

As a Field Service Engineer, you'll play a key role in commissioning complex equipment, diagnosing system issues, and providing critical support at customer sites worldwide. The role requires a hands-on problem solver with an eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high levels of service in demanding environments.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out corrective, preventative and installation tasks globally on thermal or chemical processing equipment
  • Commission and test new systems in the factory before shipment
  • Participate in design reviews for system improvements and upgrades
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and software issues
  • Support global customers remotely and on-site, escalating technical issues as needed
  • Accurately complete service documentation and maintain compliance with health & safety protocols
Skills and Experience Required
  • Proven background in mechanical and electrical assembly
  • Experience with PLC/PC-based machine control systems
  • Good knowledge of PCB fault finding and basic electronics
  • Exposure to vacuum, gas delivery, and/or chemical handling systems is advantageous
  • Minimum 3 years in a similar field service or final test engineering role
  • Strong communication and troubleshooting skills
  • Full UK driving licence and unrestricted ability to travel globally
Qualifications
  • Formal qualification in electro-mechanical or related engineering discipline
