Recruit4staff is proud to be representing a leading Manufacturing and Engineering company in their search for a Field Service Engineer to work primarily across the Midlands, with additional coverage in Cheshire and other major UK locations, and occasional overseas travel.
Overview
As a Field Service Engineer, you will support customers across the United Kingdom ensuring high‑speed packaging machines and material handling equipment are maintained to an excellent standard and operate at greater than 98% efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Complete all service, repair, warranty, and inspection jobs allocated daily to a high‑quality standard.
- Work on a variety of material handling equipment, often large machinery.
- Build strong rapport and relationships with customers through professional behaviour and a customer‑focused mindset.
- Troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve standard technical problems, ensuring ongoing customer satisfaction.
- Develop skills and knowledge of the organisation’s products and service.
- Comply with all legal and company standards, including the code of conduct and H&S practices.
- Travel to other areas as scheduled by the Coordinators.
Qualifications
- Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or similar qualifications to Level 3 – ESSENTIAL.
- Experienced multi‑skilled engineering experience with heavy plant equipment and hydraulic systems – ESSENTIAL.
- Able to read and follow electrical wiring diagrams.
- Experience from a Heavy Plant / Material Handling background – ESSENTIAL.
- Fault finding and diagnostics of CANBUS systems and electrical fault finding.
- Must be comfortable working from heights – ESSENTIAL.
- Good IT literacy, numeracy and analytical skills.
- Flexible and adaptable, happy to be part of an on‑call rota.
- Flexible travel availability, as the location will depend on the Coordinators’ schedule.
- Extensive experience installing, maintaining, and repairing electromechanical machinery (preferred).
- Knowledge of PLCs and mechatronic systems (preferred).
- Minimum Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Benefits
- Salary range £38,500 – £53,000 per annum (pay reviews underway).
- Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5 PM; 45 hours per week with overtime pay (Monday to Saturday X1.5, Sunday X2).
