Job summary

Scot JCB Group is seeking a skilled plant engineer to join our team of field engineers around the Waltham Abbey area. This field-based role requires travel from home to customer sites, with a strong background in repair and maintenance of plant machinery and a willingness to travel.

You will be responsible for repairing and maintaining machines on site, ensuring conformance with manufacturer specifications, and handling related paperwork, timesheets and parts orders.

Qualifications

• City and Guilds, NVQ or SVQ in Construction Plant Maintenance.
• Experience with diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions and fault finding using diagnostic equipment.
• Experience with JCB Loadalls is advantageous.
• Strong prioritisation and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain machines at customer sites to manufacturer specifications.
• Complete daily paperwork on a phone or tablet.
• Submit daily timesheets and job cards.
• Order parts and liaise with parts department.
• Collaborate with the service supervisor.
• Inspect and repair machines at the depot as required, adhering to specs and regulations.
• Ensure safe operation and report any defects to management.

Job description

Scot JCB are looking for a skilled plant engineer to join our growing team of field engineers based in or around the Waltham Abbey area.

This is a field-based role where you will travel from your home directly to our customers sites, so we are looking for a confident and independent individual with a strong background in the repair and maintenance of plant machinery. Willingness to travel is essential.

Salary: Competitive base rate plus overtime and bonus

Scot JCB has been supplying and servicing JCB machinery throughout Scotland and the North of England for over 60 years. We sold our first machine in 1956 and have grown into a highly specialised machinery distribution company operating through a network of 14 depots from Huntly in the North East of Scotland to Carnforth in Lancashire. Key duties and responsibilities:

• Repairing and maintaining machines on customers sites as required to ensure conformance with manufacturer’s specification
• Accurately completing all relevant paperwork daily on a phone or tablet
• Submitting daily timesheets and job cards
• Accurately ordering your parts and working closely with the parts department
• Working closely with the service supervisor
• Carrying out inspections and repairs of machines at our depot as required - in conformance with manufacturer’s specification and any regulations affecting their use
• Ensuring that there is no deficiency or defect likely to affect the safe working of a machine – and notifying appropriate manager of any defective or unsafe equipment

The ideal candidate will have:

• Relevant experience and qualifications e.g. City and Guild, NVQ or SVQ qualifications in Construction Plant Maintenance
• Experience in construction plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions, and fault finding using electronic diagnostic equipment
• Experience working on JCB Loadalls would be advantageous
• The ability to prioritise tasks and work well in a busy environment
• Great customer service skills and the ability to build rapport with our customers
• Good IT skills
• A flexible and positive outlook with an outgoing approach to work
