Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Field Service/ Calibration Engineer to join their world-class engineering team — contributing to the development of bespoke motion control and simulation systems used across aerospace, automotive, defence, and industrial applications worldwide.

This is a hands‑on, highly technical role that combines travel, problem‑solving, and direct customer interaction. As a Field Service / Calibration Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of our customer support operation — installing, maintaining, and calibrating some of the most sophisticated motion simulation and hydraulic test systems in the world.

Reporting directly to the Director of Support Services, you’ll plan and coordinate site visits, ensuring that all Health & Safety requirements are met and that customer satisfaction remains the top priority. You’ll work across multiple engineering disciplines — mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic — to diagnose issues, perform calibrations, and deliver world-class technical service both on-site and remotely.

This is an exciting and varied position with work spanning the UK, Europe, and beyond. One day you might be calibrating a single actuator; the next, commissioning a complex multi‑actuator system — no two projects are the same.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, execute, and document on-site system calibrations and testing
  • Serve as the technical single point of contact for new and existing customers
  • Carry out in-house calibration and testing when required
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Production, and Software teams to resolve technical issues efficiently
  • Prepare Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and site-specific safety documentation
  • Create standard operating procedures and site reports to ensure consistent service delivery
  • Liaise directly with customers from start to finish — clarifying requirements, providing updates, and delivering training when needed
  • Offer ongoing technical support both on-site and remotely
  • Proactively identify and report safety, environmental, or health risks
  • Be willing to travel internationally as projects demand
  • A company vehicle will be provided to support your field operations
Experience Required:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working with hydraulic systems, ideally in a low-volume, high-value manufacturing or testing environment
  • Completed engineering apprenticeship and/or qualification such as HNC/HND/Degree in a hydraulic, electronic, or related discipline
  • Strong working knowledge of servo-hydraulic systems and control electronics; familiarity with calibration principles a plus (training provided)
  • Experience preparing and following site Risk Assessments and Method Statements
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
  • A proactive, hands-on attitude with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
