Field Service Engineer – Mechanical & Hydraulic Systems

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience)

About the Company

They are an expanding engineering company based in Dudley, specialising in the service, repair, and installation of mechanical and hydraulic presses across the UK and overseas. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join our dynamic and skilled team.

The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you will carry out servicing, repairs, installations, and commissioning of mechanical and hydraulic press machinery both in the UK and occasionally overseas. This is a hands‑on role that requires a high level of mechanical competence, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service and repair mechanical and hydraulic presses at customer sites.
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new machinery.
  • Perform basic electrical fault finding and troubleshooting.
  • Use measuring equipment and hand tools accurately (including drilling and tapping).
  • Work safely in accordance with company Health & Safety and Quality policies.
  • Produce risk assessments and method statements where required.
  • Read and interpret engineering and hydraulic drawings.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
Key Skills & Qualifications
  • BTEC / City & Guilds in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience working with mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Competent use of measuring tools and workshop equipment.
  • Understanding of H&S practices and documentation.
  • Basic electrical knowledge (advantageous).
  • Forklift Operator's Certificate / IPAF (advantageous, training can be provided).

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Smart, professional appearance.
  • Full UK driving licence and valid passport (for occasional overseas travel).
