Job summary

Allan J Hargreaves Plant Engineers Ltd is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to service rail and construction plant across the UK. You will inspect, fault-diagnose, repair and upgrade specialist machinery at customer sites, travelling nationwide and working to high safety standards.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering, Construction Plant or a related discipline.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Rail industry experience or related field is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults on rail and construction plant equipment.
• Carry out planned maintenance, inspections and scheduled servicing.
• Complete machinery modifications, upgrades and improvement projects.
• Install and commission safety and productivity systems.
• Conduct LOLER and PUWER inspections.
• Provide product support and technical assistance to customers.
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics and diagnostic information.
• Manage workload and customer commitments effectively.
• Complete documentation and reports accurately.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and rail safety standards.

The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you will represent Allan JHargreaves Plant Engineers Ltd at customer sites, undertaking the inspection,maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, modification and upgrade of specialistrail and construction equipment.

You'll work independently and as part of a wider engineeringteam, supporting customer operations across the UK while ensuring all work iscompleted safely, efficiently and to the highest engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnoseand rectify mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults on rail andconstruction plant equipment
• Carryout planned maintenance, inspections and scheduled servicing
• Completemachinery modifications, upgrades and improvement projects
• Installand commission safety and productivity systems
• ConductLOLER and PUWER inspections
• Provideproduct support and technical assistance to customers
• Interprettechnical drawings, schematics and diagnostic information
• Manageworkload and customer commitments effectively
• Participatein the development and testing of innovative new machinery and engineeringsolutions
• Completeall required documentation and reports accurately
• Ensurecompliance with company procedures, rail standards and health & safetyrequirements always

What We're Looking For

• NVQLevel 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering, Construction Plant or a relateddiscipline
• FullUK Driving Licence
• Minimum2 years' experience working with plant machinery, construction equipment,HGVs or similar heavy equipment
• Strongfault-finding and diagnostic abilities
• Abilityto work independently and manage workloads effectively
• Excellentcommunication and customer-facing skills
• PersonalTrack Safety (PTS) Certification
• Road-Railmaintenance competency or RPA certification
• Abilityto operate plant machinery, equipment and attachments
• Understandingof legislation and regulations relating to plant, vehicles and equipment
• Railindustry experience.
• Knowledgeof hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
