Join Our Growing Team at Jarvie Plant! Are you a skilled Plant Fitter/Engineer with a passion for maintaining a wide range of hire equipment? At Jarvie Plant, you’ll play a key mobile role in keeping our fleet – including plant machinery, tools, and site equipment – in peak condition. Based at our Aberdeen Depot (AB12 3BQ), you’ll be travelling across Aberdeenshire and surrounding areas, depending on customer and operational requirements, ensuring equipment is maintained, repaired, and presented to the highest standard. Whether supporting construction, industrial, or events‑based projects, your expertise ensures our equipment operates safely and reliably for our customers.

How This Role Supports The Delivery Of Hire Solutions

As a Plant Field Service Engineer your work is key to the delivery of our high‑quality hire solutions. You’ll reduce downtime, respond quickly to issues, and carry out effective on‑site maintenance, keeping our customers moving. Your role supports operational reliability, customer satisfaction, and the reputation Jarvie Plant has built for dependable service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend customer sites across the Highlands to diagnose and repair faults on plant, tools, and site equipment
  • Carry out scheduled servicing, inspections, and emergency repairs on‑site
  • Replace worn parts, filters, and fluids to maintain equipment safety and performance
  • Provide technical guidance and practical support to customers directly at site
  • Maintain accurate service records and complete job documentation
  • Source, manage, and fit parts as needed to complete repairs efficiently
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures, including risk assessments and checks
  • Escalate complex faults or issues to the Service Manager as needed
  • Represent Jarvie Plant with professionalism, delivering excellent service in the field
What Will Make You a Great Fit
  • Proven experience working with plant machinery, generators, or similar equipment, ideally in plant hire, construction, or industrial sectors
  • Strong understanding of plant mechanics, operations, maintenance, and fault diagnosis
  • Ability to work independently and resolve issues promptly and effectively
  • Relevant qualifications in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • CSCS Gold Card (preferred)
  • Strong communication skills, especially in explaining technical issues clearly to customers
  • A customer‑first mindset with a professional approach
  • Full UK driving licence
